The idea
Everyone has played 2048. Slide the tiles, equal numbers merge, the board fills up and the run ends. It is a small, complete idea, and there is not much left to say about it.
So 2048 Ultimate keeps the merge and changes what surrounds it. The same 6×6 board runs four different games: one endless, one against a clock, and two where the grid is turned on its side and you fire blocks up it instead of sliding them across.
Each mode keeps its own difficulty, its own high score and its own interrupted run, so switching between them costs you nothing.
Four ways to play
Picked from the menu before a run. They share a board and share nothing else.
Slide, merge, keep the board from filling up. Reaching 2048 does not stop the run — the tiles keep going as long as you can hold the board together.
The clock starts at 90 seconds and each merge adds a second, up to 99. Planning three moves ahead costs you more than it earns, so this one is played on instinct.
Stacks hang from the top of the grid and you fire the next block up a column of your choosing. Every ten shots a pressure row lands underneath, so the stacks creep down while you work.
The same column-firing board with the pressure rows removed entirely. There is no clock and no encroaching floor — a run can last weeks, and it is meant to.
